Part of the problem the initiative is facing regarding tree planting is insufficient public understanding about the way in which trees and other vegetation reduce the negative impact of climate change, through improving air quality, providing shade from the scorching sun and heat waves, and also assisting in sustaining the biodiversity of Zaria as part of our contribution towards sustaining global biodiversity, through in-situ and ex-situ conservation methods.

It is in this regard that the initiative put forward the idea of the Green Brigade program to inculcate in children an awareness and concern for nurturing and protecting trees and the environment in various primary and secondary schools. The blueprint for the program will be ready for implementation during the 2023 planting season.
